I fly up to Seattle on the 18th (early early morning) and fly back on the 23 (late late evening).

| Trail runs make my day |

Beautiful trail run this morning. Thick ocean mist turning to rain as it hit the redwoods. No one else at the trailhead yet.
Then stumbled into a couple coyotes on the trail, around the corner a severed dear leg, then the carcass ripped in half.
Happily, the mountain lion was nowhere to be found. |

I want to go beach camping, some extended weekend in February. Specifically, the lost coast.
Lots of beach, some wind, plenty of mist, and some damn good fish and chips at the end.
Probably be around 30 miles.

I also have some clothing that I never wear, so presumably should donate. Where is the best place to do this?
Goodwill takes donations and then sells them cheaply, yes?
It looks like St. Anthony's will distribute donations to the homeless.
What else is there? Salvation army?

| Too many possessions |

I have an old IBM T42 Thinkpad (30GB HD, 2GB ram) that I would love to give away or sell cheaply.
The disk is 4 years old and getting a little bit sketchy. It also just needs a clean wipe and the latest ubuntu- windows went away quite some time ago.
Know of any takers? I currently am using it as a CD player. |

AT&T keeps calling my phone with an "important message" and then puts me on hold. The first time I tried waiting for a minute, but then gave up. They have since called me five times with the same message. Ugh. |

And one quick question as I really don't understand what is going on:
While in Gnone, the laptop sleeps happily when the lid shuts. I switch my window manager to ion3 and then this stops working. On lid shut it just waits for me.
What is going on? Presumably some program is waiting to on a lid-close event at which point it makes a syscall to suspend the laptop? Can I just manually start this program or is it that tied into Gnome? |

Heading to Big Basin Redwoods for a day hike to Berry Creek Falls.
Should be a little over 12 miles and a good test for 48hrs of recovery. |

| Tahoe rim trail |

Something about a low of 16F, 9" of snow and 85mph ridge gusts brought us back to the city. 80 some miles is halfway around the lake, but Desolation was to be the highlight of the loop. We will complete it next season.
In the meantime I can catch up on coffee, Kerourac and the stress fracture brewing in my left foot. |
